COURSE OUTLINE

General English (20 lessons) is a foundational English language course which will help you to progress in all areas of the English language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading and writing.  We focus on developing all the key skills, especially the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in everyday practical situations. Whether you are a beginner, an improver or an experienced English speaker, we have a class to suit your needs.  

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Learn effective English using the most up to date techniques and materials
  • Practice communication skills through role-plays, pair work, group discussions
  • Develop effective techniques for reading and listening
  • Practice writing skills by studying emails, formal and informal letters, reports

DAY BY DAY PROGRAMME**

*SUNDAY
Optional full-day excursion to a Wild Atlantic Way destination such as the Aran Islands, Connemara or Cliffs of Moher

Group lesson at your English language Level with a mixed nationality class

  • Speaking & Vocabulary 

    • Topic-based discussions (everyday life, work, travel, global issues). 
    • Roleplays/debates to build fluency. 
    • Vocabulary expansion

  • Reading & Critical Thinking 

    • Guided reading (graded readers, news articles, short stories). 
    • Comprehension & discussion of key themes. 
    • Skimming/scanning practice & vocabulary in context
WEDNESDAY

  • Grammar & Writing 

    • Guided lesson on a grammar point relevant to language level. 
    • Controlled practice → free writing tasks (emails, essays, reports). 
    • Peer correction & teacher feedback on your progress

  • Listening & Comprehension 

    • Audio/video practice (conversations, interviews, podcasts, lectures). 
    • Listening for gist & detail. 
    • Summarising orally or in writing to reinforce accuracy

  • Integrated Skills & Project Work 

    • Group project or presentation (weekly theme-based). 
    • Integrating listening, speaking, reading & writing. 
    • Review of the week + personalised feedback
    • Receive access to self-study materials to aid practice and build your English Language level.

**Please Note: this is a sample programme based on probable content but may differ based on the teacher’s preference or objectives.

*Get the most out of your experience! When booking your course opt for a full-day Sunday excursion to the Aran Islands, Connemara or the Cliffs of Moher.
