COURSE OUTLINE
If you already have an advanced level of English and wish to prepare for academic, professional or personal settings which require high competence in English, this is the course for you. English for Proficiency Level covers advanced grammar, sophisticated vocabulary and enhanced pronunciation training along with skills for boosting Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills. Interactive materials cover topics such as cultural nuances and idiomatic expressions used in native English-speaking countries. Participants will have opportunities to analyse academic articles and literature excerpts, and practise expressing themselves with ease coherence and cohesion. Â
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Expand your range of idiomatic expression and specialist vocabulary, explore advanced grammar questions, and practise nuances of pronunciation.
- Push yourself out of your comfort zone in all the four skills.
- Analyse academic articles and literature excerpts

- Using sophisticated grammar forms such as third conditionals, inversion & clefting.
- Public speaking using stress intonation & signposting.
- Sustaining interaction in conversations and clearly stating your opinion on a variety of nuanced topics.

- Walking tour of Galway
TUESDAY
Mastering Writing SkillsÂ
- Editing and refining your writing with feedback.
- Writing with consideration of register and tone when AI tools are used.
- Tips for effective writing at C2 level.
- Workshop:Â eg. Speaking Skills & Pronunciation
- Pub Social EveningÂ
WEDNESDAY
- Using comprehension strategies like predicting, questioning, and summarising.
- Identifying Grammar structures used for coherence and cohesion.
Workshop:Â eg. Learn English through MusicÂ
THURSDAY
Mastering Listening Skills
- Listening for gist, detail, stated opinion, and understanding humour.
- Understanding different accents
- Listening as a live audience member
- C2 Phrasal verbs used regularly in spoken English
- Visit to a local heritage site

Presenting C2 Level Materials
